Speaking from the Heart

with Q & A from Nicola Lane (dir.) and cast members.

Nicola Lane, a local artist, made this film for Clean Break, an award–winning theatre company that works with women affected by the criminal justice system. These Clean Break students , with playwright Zawe Ashton and director Lucy Richardson, devised a short play responding to the Clean Break production it felt empty when the heart went at first but it is alright now, Lucy Kirkwood's play about women sex-trafficked to London. The film follows the students from the first moments of devising up to the moment they take the stage at the Arcola Theatre.
